Fuji confirms exit from F1 calendar

Post by Ed » Tue Jul 07, 2009 11:15 pm

Just after 2 appearances the Fuji circuit will no longer host Formula 1 races. Citing financial difficulties, the circuit owners Toyota decided not to host next year's Japanese Grand Prix.

Ironically, the last time Formula 1 raced at Fuji was also for 2 years in 76 and 77.

Recently it was agreed that Fuji and Suzuka would alternate in hosting F1 events every second year. Now it remains to be seen whether Suzuka would feature annually on the F1 calender due to Fuji's pullout.
