Liuzzi to race at Nurburgring / Klien from Montreal

Post by Ed » Tue May 24, 2005 9:21 am

The Red Bull team confirmed that Vitantonio Liuzzi will race at the upcoming European Grand Prix while Christian Klien will take over from the Canadian Grand Prix onwards.

The team did not confirm of onwards meant for the rest of the season however by looking at the record of the two at the 3 races each raced in, Klien did the better job with a 7th and 8th place finishes while Liuzzi had 1 8th place finish and that was only after Ralf Schumacher was penalised and the 2 BAR drivers had their results stripped off.

I feel a bit sorry for Klien, he's done a good (though not great) job but this chopping and changing of drivers will only hinder Red Bull. Liuzzi is a breath of fresh air to F1 and a half decent pedaller too - they should stick with him for the rest of the year..

i can't undestand why you prefer Luizzi... Klien did it good even on Jaguar last year as rookie, and this yera a lot better then Luizzi...
I'd go with Klien for the rest of the year, and tryed to put Luizzi at Minardi or Jordan... ;)

Liuzzi is on course to be thenext F3000 champion not to fullfill the hype, and alleged potential. Yes he won the championship in style, but he had an underacheiving and underperforming season in German F3 in 2002.

Klien is and will continue to be a better F1 racer driver than Liuzzi.

To me they seem to be pretty evenly matched with Christian having arguably achieved slightly more in his 3GP this year. But he has another season of experience and Tonio shows great pace occasionally lacking a bit consistence which should come with time.

Before Monaco I would have been certain to see both at REDBULL next year but David was pretty impressive this time.....

Personally I have no doubt that the idea for red Bull this season was for Liuzzi to be the race driver, and Klien to be the Friday driver. Then get rid of Coulthard for 2006, and have the two Red Bull drivers be racing, and Scott Speed step in as the Friday driver.

Klien "ruined" that, by being better than Liuzzi over the preseason, and now that Liuzzi have been "in the wars" he is once more found lagging.

Liuzzi a breath of fresh air

Seen nothing impressive from him on the race track. In testing he is quick so he can do the testing for the team.

I can't understand why he will be racing in Germany then Klien in Canada. It must be a sponsorship thing cause otherwise it makes no sense.

Klien did a very good job in his races, Liuzzi failed miserably and we need good racers in the sport ....

Agree with most here. Klien unexpectedly beat Liuzzi. It wasn't even a contest!
Remember that Liuzzi was given 3 races where he raced before so it wasn't like brand new tracks he had to learn.

And I too wonder why let him race this weekend knowing he'll be replaced the following race ?
I'm back and yes supporting Alonso "The Cute" in the Ferrari!

Seems like Luizi has a lot of German backed sponsors

With due respect to him & his career in the past,he has failed to match to his direct competition i.e. DC.I wouldnt expect him to be on par with DC or ahead but h's been way off.
Klien on the other hand has shown the grit to challenge the Scot at times.

Would like to see Klien for the rest of the season

NK? :alright:
