Day 1 is in the books and what have we learned?
1. Ferrari brought basically a new car with all the upgrades and they are working.
2. McLaren have the same upgrades on both their cars and they are working.
3. Mercedes have upgrades and they are working.
4. Red Bull seem to have gone backwards.
5. Just Yuki Tsunoda of RB is fast here. Daniel Ricciardo seems lost.

This all goes well for an exciting day 2 and race but who knows what Red Bull will do overnight.

Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez both ended in the barriers doing damage to their respective cars.
The Aston Martin suffered the most damage and there were doubts if it could be repaired before qualifying.
The Red Bull was primarily around the nose and front wing but checks around the chassis were needed.

Post qualifying, Oscar Piastri incurred a 3 grid place grid penalty from the stewards for impeding Kevin Magnussen in the latter stages of Q1.

Well, that was the race that kept on giving.
The start was basically the grid easing through Viante Tamburillo and then it stabilized. Not saying that nothing was happening as numerous drivers attempted passes but the long game strategy was in place.
First cars to take an early pit prompted overtaking as those on the long strategy were passed by those on new tyres.
Lando Norris came in to pit for mediums and returned to the fray followed not long after into the pits by Oscar Piastri. Piastri came back out and set fast lap after fast lap which allowed him to make up the time to take Carlos Sainz when he made his one and only pit stop.
Both Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll made their way up the standings following late pit stops and then fresh rubber on their run to the flag.
Lando Norris showed his experience by nursing his aging tyres through the stint and set about in catching Max Verstappen. Leaving nothing on the table, he finished a mere 0.7 seconds behind his nemesis in what turned out to be a race without safety car intervention.
