It was a fairly disrupted session with an initial red flag for debris on the track.
The second red flag came out when Alex Albon and Oliver Bearman crashed in the esses. Bearman moved off the racing line to the right however lifted off catching Albon out. The right rear of Albon clipped the left front of Bearman with Albon ending in the barriers.
My thoughts are it will be a racing incident. Albon should have lifted considering it was so early in the weekend and Bearman shouldn't have lifted as much as he did. Either way, both teams have work to be done before the next session.

What initially started out as a 1 1/2 hour practice including a tyre test session for Pirelli quickly came to an end.
George Russell got his left side wheels up on the inside kerb in turn 8 resulting in a spin with heavy contact into the barriers.
George extracted himself from the car but you could see that the impact really took it out on him.
Max Verstappen's woes continued. Session 1 there was a power unit issue. The mechanics thought it was cured however it again reared its ugly head and his session was over before it began.
Alex Albon was another with repairs to his Williams not being completed before the chequered flag dropped to end the session.

Compared to the previous sessions, this was relatively quiet.
The engineers and sim drivers worked while the onsite team slept. The McLaren crew seemed to find something and both the cars again looked fast throughout the session.
Ferrari are there or thereabouts with Carlos Sainz looking the most comfortable.
As to Red Bull, both drivers are complaining about their front axle however Max seems to be adapting better.

Bring on qualifying!

Well, what a qualifying session it was!
Oscar Piastri went from hero to zero in the blink of an eye.
Sergio Perez's run of outs continued. And that was only in Q1!

Q1. The McLaren duo went out on medium tyres and Lando Norris set a great time.
The other side of the garage and Oscar Piastri struggled. He ended up having 3 runs in the session and each was littered with errors.
He failed to make out out and his run of Q3 appearances came to an end.
Sergio Perez has been all at sea with his Red Bull. He just hasn't looked comfortable and his misery continued.

Q2. All was progressing normally with the final runs commencing and Yuki Tsunoda stuck his RB into the barriers at turn 12.
He, Liam Lawson, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll were all denied opportunity to complete their laps and were all eliminated.
Valtteri Bottas was already in the pits with another disappointing performance in his Sauber.

Q3. The Ferrari looked to be the dominant team with both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc sitting at the top of the charts at the start of the final runs.
Max Verstappen had had his first time deleted due to cutting the turn 2 and 3 complex and came out firing. He placed his Red Bull in between the red cars.
Charles Leclerc was next to cross the line but failed to improve.
Carlos Sainz did improve marginally and then it was up to Lando Norris' to have a go. This proved unsuccessful as he slotted his McLaren into P3 as the session wound to a close.
This could end up being a masterstroke as the run to turn 1 on race day could work to his advantage with both Sainz and Verstappen more than likely squeezing each other on the inside of the track.

Wow! What a race!
This race had it all. Chaos at the start and a great finish.
This time, Max didn't get his way with the stewards as Lando had learned from his errors of the previous weekend.
The initial start had Yuki Tsunoda clip Alex Albon's Williams as they entered turn 1 resulting in Yuki losing his right rear tyre and running down the barriers into the safer barrier. Alex had substantial damage and retired his Williams a few corners further down the track.
Max did a Max and threw his Red Bull down the inside Lando Norris' McLaren into turn 4 only this time to not be ahead of the apex. This move forced Lando off track and, after magically appearing in the lead following his recovery and having to give the place back, again in the firing line of a red mist move by Max entering turn 7. The dive this time took both cars way off the track and, with Lando Norris doing his best to avoid the collision, both drivers lost their second place to Charles Leclerc. The stewards imposed 10 second penalties for each of the offenses on Max Verstappen effectively ruining any chance of a victory for Red Bull.
Pit stops came and went as the race settled down with drivers catching their breath for the run home.
Oscar Piastri was the last of the major runners to pit and set off on his chase for points. He brought his tyres in and reeled off some relatively quick laps managing to eventually finish in 8th behind Kevin Magnussen after starting basically the rear of grid.
After Max Verstappen pitted, Lando Norris set off in pursuit of the Ferrari duo. He hounded Charles Leclerc whose rear tyres finally screamed enough as he rounded the final turn with around 10 laps remaining, managing to catch the car before it hit the barriers but allowing Norris to take the second position. Maybe with another 2 or 3 laps, Norris may have caught Carlos Sainz but the chequered flag dropped for the second Ferrari victory in as many weeks.
