The only mayor problem was a red flag brought out for Jack Doohan's Alpine having the power steering fail and the car shutdown.
Suggested that it was a hydraulic failure.

Isack Hadjar had a moment in turn 2 on his run at the end of stage 2 which ruined his lap. He did the team thing and provide a tow for Yuki Ysunoda on the long back straight guaranteeing his team mate's progression through to stage 3.
Lewis Hamilton rolled back the years an raised Ferrari's hopes setting the fastest time within the final minute.
Max Verstappen had one final opportunity to usurp Lewis from pole but fell .018 seconds short.

It was an interesting race in that it gave us insight to how the Grand Prix will have to be run.
Most teams suffered from tyre degradation with many nursing their medium compounds from about 8 laps into the 19 lap journey.
Carlos Sainz pitted and, due to a collision between Jack Doohan and Gabriel Bortoleto in the hairpin on the final lap, managed to finish in 17th.
The incident had both Saubers and the Alpine pointing in various directions and Sainz navigated his way through the mess.
Lewis Hamilton controlled the race from the front as initially Max Verstappen attacked him before Oscar Piastri then attacked and passed Max. Piastri's tyres were shot and his charge ended after that pass. Fourth finishing Mercedes of George Russell was also struggling however he managed to hold off the slightly better finishing Ferrari of Charles Leclerc.

Qualifying is done and dusted and Oscar Piastri has broken through with his first ever pole position.
Liam Lawson again struggled with his Red Bull as did Jack Doohan, At least Doohan was only 0.1 seconds slower than his team mate. All 3 failed to make it out of Q1.

Post race scrutineering and breaches were found on 3 cars.
Charles Leclerc's Ferrari was disqualified for being underweight.
Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari was disqualified after the rear skid block being below the minimum thickness of 9mm.
This was detected by the team post race and self referred to the stewards.
Pierre Gasly's Alpine was disqualified for being underweight.

These drivers and teams all lose any points earned in the Chinese Grand Prix.
