Re: The 2025 Brazil Grand Prix Thread
The Sprint race started with teams choosing alternative tyre compounds down both sides of the grid. It seemed that those on the racing line started on mediums while the off line starters went to softs.
The flag dropped and, aside from Max Verstappen passing Fernando, most of the field passed through the opening turns in their grid positions. Lap 7 commenced and, as Lando Norris exited the second part of the esses, he took a little more kerb and dragged some water onto the racing line. Kimi Antonelli made it through safely however Oscar Piastri lost McLaren into the outside barriers. Nico Hulkenberg followed him to the scene of the accident closely followed by Franco Colapinto. The red flags came out with only Nico Hulkenberg able to leave the accident.
The race restarted around 25 minutes later after the barrier repairs were completed. Surprisingly, damage Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber was repaired and he took his place at the rear of the field.
The McLaren and the Mercedes again had different tyre opinions with Norris switching to softs and the Mercedes duo on mediums. The officials decided that a rolling start would be used to resume the battle.
From the restart, George Russell loomed up the outside of his younger team mate but pulled back into line and the race for the top 3 positions was basically over. On the penultimate lap, Gabriel Bortoleto set up for a pass approaching turn 1. The right rear seemed to lose traction and he spun towards the inside barriers. He bounced off that and then careened across the track, just missing Alex Albon, before heavily hitting the barriers on the outside of the circuit. A scary moment for all concerned and luckily no injuries occurred. The race finished under double waved yellows on the main straight.

Re: The 2025 Brazil Grand Prix Thread
Lando Norris is at the top of his game. He just seems to be producing what is required when he needs to. On the other hand, Max Verstappen had a session he would rather forget being knocked out in Q1 for the first time in forever. The surprise package this time out would have to be Ollie Bearman who, at one stage nearing the end of Q3, looked a candidate for pole. He ended up falling short however credit where it is due.
Gabriel Bortoleto took no part in the session following his crash at the end of the sprint race.

Re: The 2025 Brazil Grand Prix Thread
That was the perfect weekend for Lando Norris. After finally chasing down Oscar Piastri for the lead of the World Drivers Championship, he put together a second weekend of domination. Piastri was on the back foot following his crash in the sprint race having to have his McLaren repaired prior to qualifying and all vehicles in parc ferme at its conclusion.
Max Verstappen put in the drive of a champion after electing to fit a new power unit and completely change the set up of his Red Bull. He was advantaged by the 2 safety cars assisting him in moving quickly through the field while it was still compressed.
The safety cars were brought out on lap 1 when Gabriel Bortoleto's race ended in the barriers. The race resumed and Oscar Piastri dove up the inside of turn 1, locking his left front, and tangled with Kimi Antonelli. Antonelli in turn hit Charles Leclerc and damaged the Ferrari. Oscar was given a 10 second penalty effectively ruining what chance he had of a good result.
The run to the flag had Norris controlling the pace, followed by Kimi Antonelli ahead of a fast finishing Max Verstappen. George Russell held Oscar Piastri at bay while Ollie Bearman had a quiet end to the race in 6th. Positions 7 through 14 finished nose to tail in the run to the flag.
