BMW buys Sauber (Official name: BMW Sauber F1 Team)

Post by Ed » Wed Jun 22, 2005 7:00 pm

An announcement on a BMW - Sauber deal is expected shortly.

It has been long speculated that BMW will either supply engines to Sauber or purchase the team.

We'll provide details as soon as we get them

BMW announced a short time ago they have bought Sauber and will enter the 2006 F1 Championship as engine as chassis supplier.

This agreement commences from January 2006

Peter Sauber will step down from his managerial role and remain as an advisor

No hints on driver line-up

BMW still wishes to supply engines to Williams and if they do they will be the same engines as they (BMW) will use.

Full Statement from BMW

Would like to see the Williams statement when it is available too. I wonder who is shopping for a motor these days?
Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

According to BMW, discussions will take place with Williams next week on the supply of engines to Williams next year.

Webber and his job

Post by Jim Watt » Thu Jun 23, 2005 6:42 am

:D It looks like Webber is going to be out of a job next year and it won't be because Sir Frank can't find the horsepower for him. I could and probably will, be wrong, but I think Nick will have more points at years' end than the tall Australian bloke. Maybe they'll take him back at Red Bull?
