Coulthard signs with Red Bull for 2006
Red Bull announced today that they will retain David Coulthard as their lead driver in 2006. Full statement
Good move by Red Bull, good move by Coulthard.
Rather than letting Coulthard become part of a bidding war later in the season / early in the silly season, Red Bull sign up Coulthard, who have this season showed that he is a very good F1 driver, and it would be a folly should Red Bull dare lose him.
This obviously will mean that either Klien or Liuzzi is out of a 2006 Red Bull race seat, and based on the season sofar I think that Liuzzi is proving to be yet another overhyped F3000 champion.
Both Klien and Liuzzi could be dropped, to make way for Massa, and the Red Bull team will to an extent become the Ferrari B team. This have been the charge against Sauber (eventhoug I have never really subscribed to that), and if Massa moves over, at the same time as Red Bull start using Ferrari engines on Bridgestone tires, I think that it will be difficult not to see this as a very convenient setup, seeing it with Ferrari eyes. But not really a bad move for Red Bull either.

I had him in my predictions for 2006 in the other thread
And I agree julian, we need Coulthard in there! And he is consistent.
Next year driving a Ferrari on Michelins he could easily beat Bambino driver (if he decides to get beaten again next year
)

There is a strong rumour that Mrs Schuey has had enough of Schuey being beaten! That she was barely putting up with it last year when he was winning. Every time Ralf stacks it Schuey cops an earful, about quitting.JayVee wrote:I had him in my predictions for 2006 in the other thread![]()

If the other teams are aquitted, and red Bull had not appealed, then Red Bull would by having been found guilty, and not appealed, would have been the sole responsible party for the problems at the USGP.
This would open Red Bull up to be sued left, right and center for all the monetary damages, and this they obviously can not risk.

So you are saying when the other teams jumped Red Bull had to jump with them! Why take a week to figure that out ?K-D wrote:If the other teams are aquitted, and red Bull had not appealed, then Red Bull would by having been found guilty, and not appealed, would have been the sole responsible party for the problems at the USGP.

You may have a point but I doubt it would be that trivial. I don't think a guility verdict by the FIA has any meaning outside the FIA.

BAR were not sued! Contractually they may have to pay back some money if they don't race but that isn't being sued!!julian mayo wrote: BAR -Honda may disagree
Again if it was that clear why did it take them a week to decide ? They ran out of Red Bull
