I have only heard speculation. If anyone can point us towards any articles relating to this it might shed some more light.

More likely it is just the silly season.
Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

I think it is a rumour started by someone who is a passionate follower of "The Cute" just to stir us up

I've read the rumours

Basically the rumours are that Briatore (marketing webber's manager) would bring him to Renault in exchange for Fisichella.

So maybe next year Renault will race with two cars, because since the GBR GP 2004 (when Trulli had 46 points against 33 of Alonso) it seems that all the problems occur in just one car. The other.

I have been thinking about this, Flavio (imho) is one of the smartest operators F1 has seen. I believe that he has an option on Mark that he can exercise, someone please tell me if this is not so. This is how I read it, Flavio loans Mark ( for a nice sum) to Williams so he can get experience with the day to day operations of one of the top teams. He would be happy to leave him there if Fisi and Alonso are both performing. Fisi is not, whether it is down to the car or not. Flavio is never going to accept that it is the car if he can blame the driver for breaking it. So Fisi is on the outer, and Flavio wants a driver. Flavio tied Mark to him very early in Mark's European racing career, and I believe he is a better judge of a driver's ability than most of us.

So it is just possible that these rumours are have some base

To clarify, I never started this :D but I would love to see Alonso have some competition but as I said in another thread I doubt that would be Webber.

Next year it is possible Webber would join Renault but they would be mad to put another driver in this year while they are fighting for the championship. No discredit to Webber, just that there is no time to adapt to another car given the testing limits.

Andre, it is easy just to pick a date and put a claim but let me tell you, just becuase Ferrari do it doesn't mean Renault does it. Did you ask yourself why did the problems start for Trulli from GBR GP 2004 ? If Alonso gets "more reliable" equipment why didn't that happen from the day Alonso joined Renault ?

Andre I'd rather look at actual facts that just dream up theories. The 2004 season was made up of 18 races and not just up until the GPB GP 2004 which a few here have conveniently used in their arguments but as a race isn't 30 laps but 60 or 70 a season isn't 7 or 8 races but 18 or 19. Go look at the whole season

Also in 2003 when Alonso joined Renault (as a race driver) he and Trulli were 8-8 in qualifying with Alonso getting 2 Poles. This is a rookie in the team against one of the best qualifiers out there.
In 2003 he also beat Trulli on points 55 to 33 and won his first ever race (Trulli was a lap down!!).
Both had 5 retirements
Alonso: Engine, Engine, Gearbox, Engine, Engine
Trulli: Accident, Accident, Fuel, Engine, Steering

So according to your theory, in 2003 Alonso had the bad car but still managed to beat Trulli by 22 points

Find a better argument
I'm back and yes supporting Alonso "The Cute" in the Ferrari!

 what do you think is the possibility of Webber going to Renault in '06 ?
I must admit the idea was a surprise to me. I envisaged him staying at Williams, with Nick going to Sauber to join JV. The only other I was reasonably confident about was Barrichello to BAR ( I wish I could find that post), and I was not surprised that Massa was picked to replace him. But since the idea of Webber moving was raised, and knowing what an operator Flavio is, I am starting to wonder. Flavio has a habit of operating 2-3 seasons ahead of most.

I too would be suprised. I would have thought Briatore would try to place two of his drivers in different competitve teams. Perhaps Webber/Briatore aren't confident of Williams chances and want to jump ship.

Keep in mind that Flavio and Alonso aren't staying at Renault beyond 2006 and that makes me wonder why Falvio would want to bring Webber in.
I doubt it, I say Renault will give either Montagny (French) or Kovalinen a chance next year

If Alonsso is leaving at the end of 2006, perhaps Flavio wants Mark in the team for a full season prior to that ? :?

I doubt montagny or kovalinen will det a drive with renault next year, surely they'll end up in a car furthur down the grid like bmw or midland so flavio can see whether or not they can cope in a race... its too big a risk to put them into a front running team... plus their morale wud be crushed never being able to beat alonso...

just read on itv.com/f1 that webber says he will definately stay at williams... although his contract does allow him to leave if williams doesnt have fulll backing from an engine manufacturer - which they dont... so the move could still be on...
