Kimi to Scuderia Ferrari in 2007 ?

Post by Kapel » Thu Aug 25, 2005 6:45 pm

News has just surfaced in the germany's "Sports Bild"tabloid that Kimi has already signed to driver for Ferrari as the "number one" driver.

Todt had a few months back mentioned of his interest for a young driver driving for a English-German team.

A Michael - Kimi swap in sight?

Sorry, Kapel. USA Today mentioned something about that in the sports section on 24 August 2005, and Michael denied it, saying that he was already signed through 2006. Besides, as long as M. Schumacher's been with the Scuderia, why would he switch teams, especially to a maior rival like McLaren?

True Mlittle, that Michael & Kimi are both locked in for 2006,but in 2007 both are free.

My guesstimate of the whole situation is,that Michael need a strong race director behing him & either Todt or Ross Brawn could be retiring & would like to drive for Ron Dennis(Remember he wanted Michael to pair with Hakkinen in 2000)

For Kimi, driving for a team which has history & might give him No.1 status & he could do what Michael did in Ferrari. In Mclaren, from 2006 one cannot discount Juan Pablo Montoya :D

Maybe Ferrari think Kimi is a better driver than Schuey. I t could explain why Michael has had two meetings with the Merceds Boss this week. Perhaps they are looking at a straight driver swap for '06

This rumour has been denied by McLaren and Ferrari however neither team have stated what their plans are for 2007, so ...

Ron Dennis said:
We anticipate long-term relationships with both Kimi, who is in his fourth season with us, and Juan Pablo (Montoya).
Consequently the team is not in discussion with any other driver, including Michael Schumacher about a possible team McLaren-Mercedes race seat
Ferrari spokesman Luca Colajanni said:
We already have two drivers under contract for the 2006 season.
It is too soon to start talking about the 2007 season. We have not made any commitments with anybody for 2007
And Kimi while praising his team didn't categorically deny, he said:
I don't think there is any doubt that we have the fastest package on winning races, I'm still challenging for the world championship, the team is fantastic and I have a great relationship with everybody here so why would I want to consider changing?
Surely I am in a position that most drivers in Formula One want to be in
Source: BBC

I doubt that any top driver would confirm for 2007 before they know what will happen to F1 in 2008.

The statements from the teams didn't confirm or deny. McLaren are hoping to retain Raikkonen while Ferrari haven't made commitments with anybody (that includes Michael Schumacher) so anything can happen.

So you can continue to have fun Julian!

The tabloid magazine "Bild" that keeps posting such ridiculous headlines to create a huge hype and get more of their sensationalist media off the shelves should seriously consider revising the facts first before starting off rumors like this. It is probably the most unreasonable unlogical and most unsuitable time for Micheal Ron Jean and Kimi to be discussing 2007. It is complete nonsense in every sense of the word. And its really starting to bother me that everytime there is a very controversial rumor that's going on it's always this magazine that is its backbone of it, with its "sources that would like to remain anonymous". If these magazines have got something to say then say it, but if there isn't anything to be said, then sit down, shut up and find something else to do.
 I just had to get that off my chest.
