The Red Bull Racing RB2 (2006 F1 Contender)

The Red Bull Racing team became the second Formula 1 team to test their 2006 contender on the track.

At Silverstone, the Ferrari powered RB2 had its shakedown run by David Coulthard. The team plans a full test on Friday.

David Coulthard said:

Testing the new car today was momentous, as it represents something completely new for the team. The engine was delivered from Italy, but then everything has been built around it, and this was the moment when all the newly created parts came together. The lines of the new car look as though they?ve been inspired by the Formula Unas, it?s a very sexy looking thing!

In terms of driving experience, the car performed as expected on track and I?m looking forward to putting it through its paces tomorrow and throughout next year to see what it can do. As soon as you drive a new car you have a new toy to play with, so the old one quickly becomes very un-interesting!

The team will officially launch the RB2 on the 9th of March in Bahrain

Watch this car go from strength to strength with Newey's input.

These guys are serious. Perhaps they will overtake Ferrari in the spending department !!

I wonder do they sell that many Red Bull cans

I see them being in the top 5 in a couple of years,provided they have a good driver line up.

Yes JayVee, last i read somewhere ,they sold 1.3billion cans in 2003

The latest news that i heard is that Red Bull is being discontinued because people were having heart problems.....well, thats what is happening here in South Africa anyway....

Funny that! I didn't realise Red Bull was banned in France and a couple of other European countries!

From Wikepedia:

In 1999, Ross Cooney, a healthy, 18 year old basketball player from Limerick, Ireland died after sharing four cans of the drink before a gaelic football game in Dublin. An inquiry into his death in November 2000 ruled that he died from Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome and the connection to Red Bull was inconclusive.

In 2001, the drink was investigated by the Swedish National Food Administration after being linked to the deaths of three consumers. It has been subject to a number of other health scares regarding glucuronolactone, a precursor of taurine. Sale of Red Bull as a normal soft drink is prohibited in Denmark, Norway, and France (although not in Monaco). Due to the link with taurine, local authorities categorized Red Bull as a medicine and suggest customers ask for medical advice before drinking. Because of this, energy drinks are sold in France, but only those that lack taurine.

The official imported Canadian Red Bull is a caffeinated version of Thai Krating Daeng. Until late 2004, its sale was prohibited in Canada. Now a can must carry a warning label that says:

"Cautions: Contains caffeine. Not recommended for children, pregnant or breast-feeding women, caffeine sensitive persons or to be mixed with alcohol. Do not consume more than 500 ml per day."

Not to be mixed with alcohol

It is not actually banned, it is just not available as a normal retail item, you have to go the a pharmacy to get it.

Thanks rah, you are right, it doesn't say banned.

So does one need a prescription or you can just pick it up off the counter at a pharmacy ? Must be very expensive

As far as I know, it is freely available over the counter. Probably just same price. I am sure it is making some pharmacies a bit of extra profit.

Speculation, kapel. Then again, I don't see how mixing alcohol w/RedBull could be dangerous.....I mean, one dulls the senses, and the other speeds up the senses, so I don't know if it is dangerous. Probably ain't.

That probably might be the reason for terming it dangerous with alcohol..i hope not

Caffeine sensitive persons
Mixing with alcohol

The top 3 don't apply to you I am sure

The 4th one, well you'll drink anything with Red in it anyway
