Calls for 2006 pre-season predictions

Post by BlinkyBill » Mon Jan 30, 2006 5:23 pm

Ok Folks - Bahrain is WAY too far away, and with most teams on or near testing their 06 cars. . . I thought it was time to engage in some serious 2006 predictions.

So:

I am throwing out the call for pre-season constructors and drivers tips, in order.

Dont worry about the whole field (everyone agrees Sato will be last, on negative points due to penalties), but perhaps top 7 cars, top 10 - 12 drivers.

As a recap for 05:

Constructors

1 Renault
2 McLaren
3 Ferrari
4 Toyota
5 Williams
6 Honda
7 Red Bull

Drivers

1 Alonso
2 Kimi
3 Michael
4 JPM
5 Fisi
6 Ralf
7 Trulli
8 Rubens
9 Jenson
10 Webber
11 Heidfeld
12 DC

Here are my tips:

CONSTRUCTORS:

1 Renault - Closer field, less wins, but FA will be the difference
2 Ferrari - Return to form, kind of
3 McLaren - big drop in performance, but 2 class drivers hell bent on beating the other. At least 1 DNF taking each other out.
4 Williams - much better car. Webber shows he can drive
5 Honda - A small hunch RB will contribute more than Sato did. Crazy? Perhaps.
6 Toyota - consistent, but will not have as great a start to the year as in 05.
7 Sauber - 50 points for the team this year.

DRIVERS

1 FA - (90pts) back to back WDC's. Will show is skill this year in a closer field.
2 Schumi - (70pts) p3 last year in a dog of a car. . . p2 blindfolded.
3 Webber - (61 pts) Much better car. And, well, if nico only scores 30 points this year, he will have to do this well for Williams to get p4 in the constructors.
4 Kimi - (60pts) poor car, but class driver.
5 JPM - (55 pts) if Kimi can do it . . .
Rubens - (55pts) its official, Jenson cant drive.
7 Fisi - (53 pts) - its simple. Good car. head the same direction as the others, relax Fisi, its all ok, 7th will just happen.
8 Trulli - (45pts) - not as good a start as in 05. Car will be ok, but not special. Toyota to triple the budget for 07.
9 Jenson (42 pts) - Right, thats it, screw this contract, I am out of here.
10 Ralf - (40 pts) - YAWN
11 Nico - 30 pts - Phew, better debut year than Jenson - thats encouraging.
12 Heidfeld - will do well in the bmw and outscore JV
(and massa, p13, will get a tad scared about scratching the paintwork)

:coool: BlinkyBill,

Good to see someone here who highly regards Alonso :D
Don't agree with you on Ferrari, Button and JV though

Here are my predictions (and I agree it is too early but why not!)

CONSTRUCTORS:

1 Renault - They will dominate. Reliable AND Fast from Bahrain
2 McLaren - It will take them half a season to get the V8 up to speed then it will start blowing
3 Honda - They had a bad year in 2005 but remember they finished 2nd in 2004. They will be strong
4 Toyota - Ralf will perform better than his older brother
5 Ferrari - Michael will finally decide to retire. Slow car, slow brain.
6 Williams - The car will be unreliable and Webber will not be happy
7 BMW - Will be very close to Williams.

DRIVERS (positions 2 to 12 are very hard :D :D )

1 Alonso The Cute - Clinches the title with 4 races to spare.
2 Montoya - Manages to beat Kimi but is too far behind Alonso.
3 Raikkonen - Gets beaten by Montoya   Moves to Toyota
4 Fisichella - Great car - Good driver
5 Button - He will have a good year
6 Barrichello - Still suffering from "the helper" syndrome
7 Trulli - He has to finish in front of Ralf
8 Ralf - He has to finish in front of his older brother
9 Massa -     :alright:
10 Michael - In 2005 his luck ran out, this year his performance runs out too
11 Webber - Just beats Nico to 11th place (Sorry Julian but I couldn't fit Webber in the top 10   Please not the AXE .... OUCH)
12 Rosberg - Proves a match for Webber in his debut year. Webber leaves Williams
13 Villeneuve - beats Heidfeld   Extends another year with BMW :D

8) :smokin:
I'm back and yes supporting Alonso "The Cute" in the Ferrari!

I particularly like this last lot. I think I will keep this quote bookmarked for later over use.
Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

Certainly some interesting thoughts so far . . .

- DC in the top 10 (?? :alright: ??)
- A lack of support for Williams (I cant see them going backwards from last year, they will definitely be stronger)

I thought there were some huge Webber supports in the forum!! Speak up now, dont be shy.

- Mixed support for Honda (they will definitely be stronger . . . if only because they have 2 class drivers rather than a class clown) :maths:

Tell me, though - is their agreement that the field will generally be closer, or quite spread? :?: :?: :?:

They may not go backwards but a few other teams will be going forward faster

There are, but as you say, they are too shy it seems or they don't want to be reminded afterwards :D
You'll see them in 8 'n' Pole. Are you in it ? You can also join the F1 Idiots group too if you dare :D

I am glad you like it but to be fair and so that you can over quote it later, you need to give us your predictions as well so I can bookmark and over use later

Go on, and you Julian and Kapel and Bundy and T-K and mlittle and everyone else. Even Ed
It is hard but so what. Lets see if someone has more ridiculous predictions that will turn out correct :croc:

I am ready for the 8 'n' pole, but why the fight for 324th place, Julian . . . trying to hide something? Isnt that like hoping MW gets an award for 10th place?

Well unfortunately every now and then the boss wants me to work. Very distressing, however I am sure you can overlook my tardiness and peruse my picks. However full of bollocks I believe they are.

Constructors
Toyota
Renault
Ferrari
Williams
Honda
McLaren
BMW
Red Bull
Torro Rosso
Super Aguri
MF1

Drivers
Alonso
M. Schui
Webber
Trulli
Kimi
Rubens
R.Schui
Monty
Fisi
Massa
Nick
DC
Klien
The Rest

As previously stated I think the above is a load of bollocks. But as I was pressed to respond I did. I think maybe a week before the first race would be a better time.

But one thing I think can be gleaned by the absolute swill displayed above, I think the the team with the best driver combination will certainly not be in the best or most reliable car. The rest of the teams have one good and one ok driver. The constructors will depend on how often the ok drivers stuff up.
Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

324 is a place of honour.it makes the glorious victory of Wild Turkey & St Kilda over A crude suger alcohol and a lesser AFL team.

Sometimes I am a tad busy stalking V8 supercar team members and dragging them into back alleys to persuade them ( with the help of "The Axe") to impart information on the upcoming season.

Constructors.
McLaren
Williams
Ferrari
Renault
Toyota
Sauber
RedBull
The rest

Drivers
JPM
Webber
Kimi
Schuey
Nico
Fisi
Alonso
Trulli
Heidfield
The rest

rah believes in Toyota

A team that has yet to win a race cannot win the championship

But tell me, how can they win the championship if Trulli and Ralf are 4th and 7th .... I know I know :D

Still picking Alonso for the WDC shows style. I am going to have to struggle with you in 8 'n' Pole :D

Julian believes in McLaren :alright: :alright: and Renault will disintegrate

A team needs to win from the first race. McLaren will have 2 DNF's in Bahrain

With such predictions, 324th in 8 'n' Pole would indeed be an achievement
