FIA choose Bridgestone and ????? Microsoft ?????

Post by Redhead » Thu Jul 06, 2006 12:50 pm

From another thread .....
Julian Mayo wrote:I just yearn for a season where we have 3 drivers from different teams fighting to the last race.
Wipe away those tears JM, the FIA have just annouced that Bridgestone will be the official tyre supplier for 2008, 2009, 2010, and because Michelin is pulling out at the end of this year by default they will be for 2007 as well.

If this doesnt make the competition closer I will eat my rather tatty, but by now very salty Ferrari cap.

Worryingly however, in the same announcement was the news that none other than Microsoft will be the official ECU supplier for the 2008-2010 period. This will no doubt please those who like to see crashes

(BTW - I checked and its defintely not April 1st)
All Italiano WDC 2007!
(OK there was a Finn, a Brazilian and a Frenchman ...........)

Thanks Redhead,

Yes it is official. Bridgestone will be the official tyre supplier from 2008 to 2010. Of course they will also be the only suppliers next year as Michelin are pulling out.

Microsoft MES will be the official ECU supplier from 2008 to 2010.

"Alonso is in the lead on lap 65. What's this!!!! Apparantly his Microsoft(inthehead)wear is not validated on this lap....all subsequent laps are unlawful and his onboard computer will be shut down with immediate effect...please save any documents you are working on and contact your supplier..."

An error log has been created, it will tell Microsoft everything there is to know about you and transmit it over the internet on an unsecured chanel regardless of your wishes....Do you want to continue racing? (Microsoft apologises for any inconvenience caused but we didn't want to cause any harm to your computer so you will never be able to reboot ever)

This is really scary.

Microsoft to build the ECU for Formula 1

Did the FIA check these out: (actual support pages from Microsoft!!)

January 1 may appear as February 1 in a date in Excel
SYMPTOMS
When you enter or fill dates in a worksheet in Microsoft Excel 97, a date that should appear as January 1 may instead appear as February 1

Calculator Does Not Reliably Subtract Two Numbers in Windows
SYMPTOMS
Microsoft Windows Calculator (CALC.EXE) does not reliably subtract two numbers with decimal values. This problem occurs in both modes (standard and scientific) of Calculator

"Out of Memory" Error Messages with Large Amounts of RAM Installed
One of the suggested resolution is actually:
Reduce the amount of memory that is installed in your computer to 512 MB or less.

Programs May Start, Quit, Lose, and Gain Focus Randomly
SYMPTOMS
Programs may quit, start, or lose and gain focus randomly; text in programs may be unreadable; and the logon screen may appear to be controlled by someone who is remotely connected to the computer

Perhaps Montoya did the right thing

Funny you should say that, as well as being funny (sort of). The actual name of the ECU supplier is Microsoft MES, the MES standing for Mclaren Electronic Systems.
